Isu lingkungan telah menjadi masalah umum yang harus segera ditindaklanjuti. Berbagai pencemaran lingkungan telah terjadi, seperti polusi udara dan sungai. Teknologi dapat memainkan peran untuk mencegah degradasi lingkungan. Salah satu upaya yang dilakukan adalah untuk memantau parameter atau indikator kerusakan lingkungan dan bencana alam. Parameter yang udara dan kualitas air sungai. Mesin-ke-mesin (M2M) adalah teknologi yang dapat dikembangkan untuk mewujudkan sistem pemantauan ini. Penelitian ini mengusulkan penerapan teknologi M2M untuk memantau udara dan sungai. Sensor yang mendeteksi kualitas air (kandungan kimia, pH) dan kualitas udara (monoksida dan timah, kelembaban, suhu) ditempatkan di beberapa lokasi (node) yang rentan atau berpotensi terkena polusi. Pembacaan sensor diproses oleh modul M2M kemudian ditransmisikan ke pusat pengolahan data (server web) melalui jaringan nirkabel CDMA. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah prototipe sistem yang memiliki kemampuan untuk memantau udara dan sungai melalui jaringan CDMA.
Environment issues have become a common problem which should be followed up immediately. Various environmental pollution has occurred, such as air and river pollution. Technology can play a role to prevent environmental degradation. One of the efforts is to monitor the parameters or indicators of environmental degradation and natural disasters. The parameters are air and river water quality. Machone-to-machine (M2M) is a technology that can be developed to realize this monitoring system. This research proposes the implementation of M2M technology to monitor air and river. Sensors that detect water quality (chemical contents, pH) and air quality (monoxide and lead, humidity, temperature) are placed at several locations (nodes) which is vulnerable or potentially pollution exposed. The sensors readings is processed by an M2M module then transmitted to a data processing center (the web server) through the CDMA wireless network. The result of this research is a system prototype which has capability to monitor air and river through the CDMA network.
