As a company with well-known product, the very first target of ABC’s distribution system is to make sure that their products are always available whenever and wherever the consumer needs them. With this target, availability level is considered to be the key performance indicator for ABC’s distribution system. Until this current time, the availability level reached is found to be relatively high at the level of 86%, however, ABC’s management targeted for 95%. Other performance indicator related to availability is inventory cost. Optimal condition is reached when high availability is achieved at the most economical cost. These two performance indicators are influenced by ABC’s distribution policy, which dictates inventory level held at each of ABC’s distribution channel. The purpose of this research is to explore the possibility to improve the current performance by implementing several policy scenarios. This is done through computer modelling and simulation. Simulation result shows that through the implementation of new policy, ABC’s will be able to improve their availability level to 99% and decrease 34% of their inventory cost.
