Analisis Perencanaan Migrasi Jaringan 3G menuju Jaringan LTE (Long Term Evolution) di Pusat Kota Kudus

Improving the quality of data services that have better coverage and capacity is a challenge for telecom operators in urban areas, one of which is the Kudus City. Kudus City is a city famous for the tour of menara Kudus which every day packed by tourists and also indigenous people, this resulted in the number of users that can not be served by NodeB. In Kudus City Center there are 4 NodeBs to serve data communications using 3G technology, but there is one NodeB that is unable to service the data communication needs due to its full traffic capacity and high payload demand. In this research, migration planning from 3G network to LTE (Long Term Evolution) using frequency of 1800 MHz in Kudus City. Migration planning based on existing conditions using drive test and 3G payload traffic. LTE network planning that has been done using simulation software atoll 3.2 on the capacity and coverage side. The simulation results before and after the migration showed the parameter of the coverage side increased by 45.16%%, while the capacity increased and the average throughput increased from 1.255 kbps to 19.672 kbps.
Meningkatkan kualitas layanan data yang memiliki cakupan dan kapasitas yang lebih baik merupakan tantangan bagi operator telekomunikasi pada daerah urban, salah satunya Kota Kudus. Kota Kudus merupakan kota yang terkenal dengan wisata menara Kudus yang setiap hari dipadati oleh wisatawan maupun penduduk asli. Hal ini mengakibatkan banyaknya user yang tidak dapat dilayani oleh NodeB. Di Pusat Kota Kudus terdapat 4 NodeB untuk melayani komunikasi data menggunakan teknologi 3G. Akan tetapi, terdapat salah satu NodeB yang tidak mampu melayani kebutuhan komunikasi data karena kapasitas trafik yang penuh dan permintaan payload yang tinggi. Pada penelitian ini, dilakukan perencanaan migrasi dari jaringan 3G ke LTE (Long Term Evolution) menggunakan frekuensi 1800 MHz di Kota Kudus. Perencanaan migrasi berdasarkan pada kondisi existing menggunakan drive test dan trafik payload 3G. Perencanaan jaringan LTE yang telah dilakukan menggunakan software simulasi Atoll 3.2 pada sisi capacity dan coverage. Hasil simulasi sebelum dan sesudah dilakukan migrasi menunjukkan parameter dari sisi coverage mengalami peningkatan sebesar 45,16%, average throughput meningkat dari 1.255 kbps menjadi 19.672 kbps.
